Follow the call of the wild to Canada's Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort, a rustic luxury lodge on the Pacific coast of British Columbia. Accessible only by air or water, the lodge is located on the coast of Mackenzie Sound, a saltwater channel flanked by the mighty Great Bear Rainforest. Here, you are miles away from the nearest town, staying in intimate cabins surrounded by hills and forests. While bears and lynxes roam outside, the resort lulls you into a sense of security with cedar wood hot tubs, a floating sauna, and authentic local cuisine. But there's no shortage of adventure either: helicopter fishing, whale watching, and bear viewing guarantee unforgettable moments.

The magnificent Little and Big Nimmo Bay serve as your adventure playground. Swim to the sauna hut, surrounded by calm waters and framed by densely wooded hills, or take a dip in one of the cedar hot tubs by the waterfall. The biggest attraction, however, is the wilderness right on your doorstep. Relaxed kayaking and stand-up paddling are just as possible as whitewater rafting or adventurous bear tours, where you can watch black and grizzly bears fishing for salmon. Whales, dolphins, sea lions, sea otters, and bald eagles also call the region home. Another great experience is helicopter fishing, where you fly to remote lakes and rivers to fish for salmon and trout. The helicopters can also be booked for aerial adventure tours, giving you unprecedented access to ancient glaciers, huge waterfalls, untouched forests, and crystal-clear mountain lakes.

With only nine cabins, the resort guarantees all guests an idyllic and peaceful experience of the surrounding wilderness. You can choose between two categories – the red-roofed Intertidal Cabins, which are located directly on the water, and the green-roofed Forest Cabins. The Intertidal Cabins stand on stilts above the sound, allowing you to witness the changing tides and hear the gentle sound of the waves. The Forest Cabins are surrounded by dense greenery and are located near a babbling brook. All cabins comfortably accommodate a small family with two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living area. From your cozy terrace, you can enjoy the natural spectacle up close.

The chef sources most ingredients directly from British Columbia – seafood such as wild Pacific salmon, albacore tuna, and Dungeness crab are particularly fresh. The beef comes from pasture-raised cattle on local farms, and many of the plants, such as flowers, berries, leaves, and roots, are harvested in the region. Meals are enjoyed in a convivial atmosphere, and depending on the weather, you can dine indoors or outside on the terrace. Some evenings a tasting menu is served, other times a decadent menu, often with a large crab as the main course. The cozy bar offers a wide selection of house spirits, wine, beer, and first-class cocktails. Try the Sea to Cedar, made with cedarwood gin.
