Villa d'Este

Lake Como
from $1,378

The magnificent Villa d'Este was built in the 16th century by Cardinal Gallio as an opulent summer residence and has been one of the most exclusive luxury hotels since the 19th century. Located directly on Lake Como and surrounded by an enchanting 10-hectare park, it became the preferred destination of the European aristocracy. Stay in magnificent Renaissance suites, indulge in the culinary dolce vita, and never lose sight of the magnificent lake panorama.

The wonderful Renaissance-style rooms and suites are spread across two exceptional buildings and most of them have balconies and breathtaking views of the lush gardens or the lake. There are also four spacious private villas dating from the 19th century. The villas impress with their proximity to Lake Como and promise maximum privacy. The historic rooms are traditionally furnished with antiques, paintings, silk fabrics, and handcrafted brocades from the lake region. The marble bathrooms feature toiletries from the exclusive Villa d'Este brand, created especially for the luxury hotel.

Executive Chef Michele Zambanini is synonymous with culinary excellence at Villa d'Este. La Veranda is the hotel's main restaurant with large windows, serving Italian and international cuisine in an elegant setting overlooking the lake and mosaic garden. The Grill also offers Italian dishes with views of the lake and garden. For a light lunch or an aperitif in summer, we recommend the Sundeck Bar by the sparkling pool, while you can enjoy afternoon tea, coffee, or an aperitif in the hotel's magnificent Canova Bar.

The resort's facilities are exceptional: the Sporting Club offers a large indoor pool, a fitness room, a sauna, a steam bath, a golf simulator, and a squash court. Outside, you will find eight tennis courts, a children's pool, and a swimming pool on the lake. The renowned Villa d'Este Golf Club is only 12 kilometers away. The magnificent Lake Como is perfect for water skiing, stand-up paddling, canoeing, sailing, and windsurfing. Or simply stroll through the wonderful park, where you will encounter centuries-old statues and trees on 10 hectares of land, and enjoy Italy's mild climate.
