Where Cappadocia's tuff valleys seem to float in the morning light

A wonderful world of soft tuff rock with bizarre elevations and seemingly endless black caves stretches out before your eyes. These towers, which protrude like mushrooms, are called fairy chimneys. However, it is not mythical creatures that live at their feet, but people who began to claim this underground habitat for themselves 6,000 years ago. And that is exactly how the villages dug into the stone deep beneath a rugged volcanic landscape came into being. In addition to storage rooms and living quarters, they even created hundreds of cave churches, which still delight visitors today with their amazingly well-preserved wall paintings.
