Cherero Camp is located in the heart of Serengeti National Park, in a quiet area towards the western corridor. Enjoy complete tranquility in the wilderness, where there are no other camps or passing vehicles to be seen far and wide. The four tented suites guarantee privacy and magnificent views from a private veranda. On game drives, keep an eye out for the legendary "Big Five," and at the right time of year, you can even witness the fascinating great wildebeest migration up close.
After a sumptuous breakfast, you can look forward to an exciting safari with numerous animal sightings. Among other things, you can encounter prides of lions, Nile crocodiles, rare black rhinos, leopards, and large herds of hippos in the untouched landscape. Game drives, bird watching, lunch in the bush, hot air balloon rides, and stargazing could also be on the agenda. And even then, there is still more to see: take a day trip to Olduvai Gorge and Ngorongoro Crater or visit a real Maasai village.
Cherero Camp offers four beautiful tented suites made from canvas and local teak wood. Each suite can accommodate three adults or two adults and two children and is divided into a bedroom, a living area, a bathroom wing, and a private veranda from which you can admire spectacular African sunrises. Natural light, Egyptian cotton bedding, handmade Maasai mirrors, and locally produced furniture exude the charm of the region.
Musabi, the camp's dining tent with an exceptional view of the savannah, serves meals prepared to order – vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options are also available upon request. All dishes are prepared with fresh, local ingredients. Be sure to try the Kilimanjaro beer chicken. The wonderfully aromatic Arusha Single Estate Coffee will also get you going. Light snacks such as grilled bananas or chapati with salsa can be found in the Secret Bar, where you can also toast to a successful dream vacation with a Serengeti Sunrise.
The wonderful Cherero Camp is one of two extremely eco-friendly accommodations owned by Kantabile Africa, which have been specifically designed to leave as small a safari footprint as possible. The camp's owners are passionate about preserving the land and its communities. Cherero consists of just four suites, made from local teak and canvas. Even the furniture and furnishings were designed by local artisans and sourced from nearby settlements. Each tent also has a private veranda that extends the entire length of the northeast side.
