Marataba Safari Lodge takes glamping to a whole new level. Located at the foot of the impressive Waterberg Mountains, it seamlessly combines modern design with natural materials. The 15 romantic, open-plan, luxurious suites are designed to allow the exotic sounds and smells of the magnificent Marakele National Park to work their magic without distraction. Each suite has its own viewing platform from which you can overlook the vast plains and the meandering river. Daily game drives allow you to encounter countless wild animals, including the legendary "Big Five."
There are only 15 tented suites in total in the spacious grounds, so you can enjoy plenty of space and privacy. Eleven suites can accommodate two people, while four are ideal for families, offering children their own bedroom with bunk beds, toys, and games. Each accommodation has a viewing platform with stunning natural views, an outdoor shower, a spacious bathroom, and a refrigerator. The design incorporates natural materials such as stone and canvas, promoting a connection with African nature.
Fresh juice, coffee, and light snacks are served before the morning game drives, and breakfast is served upon your return. The menus are fresh, regional, and change regularly. You can choose from an extensive menu—from hearty burgers to light salads, there is something for every taste. At the end of the day, a three-course dinner is served. Beware of the monkeys, who like to sneak up on you and are quite willing to steal your food right out of your hands.
Without a doubt, the daily game drives will be the highlight of your trip. The dramatic Marakele National Park stretches across vast plains, dense bushland, mountains, and rivers. You have a good chance of spotting the legendary "Big Five"—lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant. The park is also home to a variety of other animal species, including rare antelope species and more than 400 different bird species. Don't miss the water safari, where you can look out for hippos. After an adventurous day, you can refresh yourself in the communal pool or book a spa treatment in your suite. The youngest guests will be kept busy in the kids' club with age-appropriate activities. These include animal watching, rock painting, and bush camps with experienced supervisors.
