The Pikaia Lodge is a dream resort nestled idyllically in lush green surroundings: a sustainably built, environmentally friendly, solar-powered hotel perched on the cone of an extinct volcano. Look forward to white sandy beaches, volcanic craters, and lava tunnels—all surrounded by turquoise blue waters where sailing promises to be one of many unforgettable memories.

The dreamlike Sumaq Spa offers a 270-degree view of the lush natural surroundings, which you can enjoy from the mosaic-tiled whirlpool or the relaxation loungers. The intricate treatments use local ingredients such as Galápagos volcanic ash. Ritual shamanic massages are also offered. The grounds feature 3.5 kilometers of private trails for walking, jogging, and mountain biking—all in the company of giant tortoises, finches, and two resident owls. Be sure to keep an eye out for the rare blue-footed booby. If you venture out onto the water, you may even spot sharks, manta rays, dolphins, and orcas.

The rooms on the ground floor feature shaded terraces and unobstructed views of the main crater plateau, while those on the first floor offer private balconies and equally spectacular views. The Pool Suite offers the best of all worlds. Here you can enjoy large panoramic windows, a breathtaking terrace, and a private plunge pool where you can cool off and refresh yourself at any time.

Take a seat in the elegant Evolution Restaurant, where chef Christian Puente combines Ecuadorian flavors with international flair. The menu changes daily and consists almost exclusively of local products according to the farm-to-table principle. For breakfast, we recommend the Tigrillo: a typical Ecuadorian dish made with green plantains, onions, and achiote oil, topped with soft-boiled eggs and sal prieta. The fresh fish dishes are also not to be missed. In the evening, you can relax in the DNA Bar with cervezas and margaritas and listen to the crackling of the fire.

Details of Pikaia Lodge

The Galapagos Islands are extremely famous for their unique flora and fauna – it was not without reason that Charles Darwin once visited here to gather evidence for his theory of evolution. Thanks to its central location on the green island of Santa Cruz, the Pikaia Lodge is ideal for exploring beautiful sandy beaches and the archipelago's most important sights, including Tortuga Bay and the Darwin Research Center, offering a highly comfortable combination of nature and modernity.
