The dreamlike Little Ruckomechi Camp is an excellent choice for travelers seeking intimate accommodation and first-class nature adventures in Mana Pools National Park. With only three to four tents and its prime location on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River overlooking Zambia's Great Rift Mountains, it is one of the most scenic camps in southern Africa. Elephants regularly wander leisurely through the grounds and doze in the shade of the trees, while hippos wallow in the mud of the riverbank. The coveted game drives take place twice a day in the concession or national park. Local predators include lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and wild dogs, while herbivores include elephants, buffalos, zebras, and all kinds of antelopes. Honey badgers and pangolins can also be spotted on night safaris. Nature walks, bird watching, river cruises, and fishing trips also offer fascinating insights into the rich natural environment. The guest accommodation consists of three spacious raised tents made of wood and canvas, with the option of four tents if you book the camp exclusively. Each of the open-plan tents is elegantly furnished with wooden cabinets, desks, king-size or single beds, comfortable seating, and two copper sinks. The en-suite bathroom consists of a wet room with shower and a separate toilet. Each tent has a small veranda where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the iconic Albida trees and the passing wildlife.
The Little Ruckomechi menu features local ingredients and Zimbabwean dishes, which you can enjoy in the peaceful open-air setting by the river. The camp's fire pit is the perfect place for morning or evening drinks in the company of your fellow travelers – or you can sip a sundowner by the plunge pool while admiring the deep red sunset.
