All 22 rooms are spacious and modern, designed by Madrid-based architecture firm Mecanismo. The focus is on simple elegance, expressed in clean lines, elegant stone walls, oak floors, and earth tones. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a regal sea view, even in the entry-level category. The large bathrooms are equipped with elegant brown marble sinks and rain showers. Most also have a bathtub facing the window, providing a unique bathing experience. If you are looking for something truly special, opt for one of the two suites, which feature private stone-lined plunge pools. From your vantage point in the water, it almost looks as if the surface of the pool merges with the horizon.

Guests from all over the world flock to the legendary Akelarre restaurant, which has been awarded three Michelin stars, to experience the culinary magic of chef Pedro Subijana for themselves. Akelarre means "witches' circle" and fuels anticipation for truly magical delights. Choose from three eight-course tasting menus, all made with local ingredients and inspired by traditional Basque cuisine. From seaweed and oysters to sea bass and classic Ibérico pork, everything is included – creatively combined, the dishes promise a fireworks display of authentic Basque flavors. The hotel's second restaurant, Oteiza, captivates with simpler meals and delicious tapas, which also have strong Basque roots. Of course, a good meal also calls for a good wine, and the hotel's wine cellar, with at least 650 wines, is a real treasure trove.

Without question, culinary delights are the main attraction at Akelarre. San Sebastián, the cultural and culinary capital of the Basque Country, is a true gourmet mecca and has more Michelin stars per capita than any other city in the world except Kyoto. Don't miss out on sampling traditional pintxos, washed down with the local white wine, Txakoli. The ultimate in relaxation awaits you in the 880-square-meter spa. Surrounded by dark gray granite and soothing natural tones, you'll find a relaxation area with sweeping sea views, a marble hammam, a sauna, three treatment rooms, and an elegant stone pool with hydrotherapy jets. For outdoor adventures, take a day trip to Bilbao or hike to the summit of Urgull at the other end of La Concha Bay.
