The modern five-star EDITION hotel in a prime downtown location brings a new era of modern luxury to Reykjavík. From the beautiful, spacious rooms and suites, floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the harbor or the city. There is also a lively restaurant run by a Michelin-starred chef, two inviting bars, and a dreamlike spa that draws on the country's wellness traditions. All of the Icelandic capital's major attractions are within walking distance.

The 253 rooms and suites feature impressive floor-to-ceiling windows offering sweeping views of the harbor, Harpa Concert Hall, and the city. There are no bad views in the hotel, but the corner rooms and suites offer particularly spectacular panoramas—not to mention the fantastic penthouse on the sixth floor. The décor is luxurious and features custom-made Italian furniture in warm ash wood, copper bedside lamps, faux fur rugs, and colorful bedspreads from local wool company Ístex. The bathrooms are spacious and stocked with Le Labo toiletries made with the hotel's signature EDITION fragrance.

Michelin-starred chef Gunnar Karl Gíslason runs Tides, the hotel's main restaurant. The upscale space offers a small but perfectly curated lunch and dinner menu featuring modern Icelandic cuisine, freshly caught seafood, high-quality meat, and unexpected flavor combinations. In the lobby bar, try the strong Pimm's Cup, made with the classic Icelandic spirit Brennivín and a hint of cinnamon. On Fridays and Saturdays, the cozy, hidden cocktail bar TÖLT is the best place for a nightcap.

Thanks to Iceland's long tradition of wellness tourism and the use of its geothermal waters, the hotel's own spa also pampers you with exquisite treatments and opportunities for complete relaxation. The main attraction is a communal hammam connected to a chic spa lounge where you can enjoy food and drinks between baths. Step outside the front door and you are just a few steps away from the city center. The majestic Hallgrimskírkja is a must-see. The world-famous Blue Lagoon is also easily accessible by car, and at the right time of year, there is a good chance of catching a glimpse of the legendary Northern Lights even in the city.

Details of The Reykjavík EDITION

The EDITION Reykjavík rises from the ground with its stunning, ultra-modern black façade, inspiring awe. Despite its rugged exterior, designed to mimic Iceland's lava landscape, the hotel's interior immediately feels warm and inviting. Faux fur blankets, pillows, and colorful textiles provide a striking contrast to the elegant gold and dramatic stone that permeate the interior. The large lobby and adjoining bar feel very intimate thanks to the light from a central glass-roofed fireplace surrounded by comfortable leather seats and an abundance of soft rugs and blankets. Even the supporting cement columns are wrapped in leather to convey a feeling of warmth and luxury.
